I dunno about the above comments, to me this looks like the most alive a Yohji mens runway collection has felt in some time.

I agree. There's definitely individual pieces of this that I really like, but a lot of misses for me too (pretty much all of the camouflage for example).
The biggest complaint that I have is that it doesn't really feel like a cohesive vision, more like a bunch of stuff slapped together as already mentioned.

the camo suit is fucking awesome
the same pattern in overcoat worn (reversed, apparently) is a bit extreme though.
i'm liking this the more i look at it. the casting for a Yohji show has never been better...and the female gangsters in shades are to die for.
Originally posted by Johnny View Postthis is just a re-hash of dated looking clothing, albeit in his signature style (unfortunately, in some cases, literally).
Don't know if anybody else has noticed it...but the more I think about it, post-restructuring YY Homme (S/S 10 and beyond thus far) has shifted in its sensibilities somehow...the shapes and textures have taken on a tone and mood that is compellingly off and odd, more so than ever before, impossible to articulate but looking at it, there's a beautiful strangeness to all of this. Proportions are going for broke, balls-out, there's no mistaking this for anything but later-period Yohji..(see also: S/S '10 street stall-esque stone washed denim trousers, 'frankenstein' suit)Last edited by Fade to Black; 04-02-2010, 12:48 AM.

I was really looking forward to this show...
Did he mix the Pour Homme-collection show, with the Y3 show?
To me that seem strange, but I guess it's about the money.
I have mixed feelings about this collection.
I am certainly not feeling very much inspiration.
To me this just looks like various pieces thrown together.
Some pieces better, or worse than others.
Some looks are close to solid, and yeah... they look nice.
But as before mentioned. Some/many looks/garments feels rehashed.
That feeling is never good.
I hope next season will be better.Last edited by TarHeart; 04-02-2010, 07:43 AM.

I think it's good. For some reason to me Yohji was never about themes - the theme was always pretty much the same - but about individual pieces, more precisely about reinterpreting traditional male clothing by a careful exploration of new details and cuts - and there are certainly some nice pieces in there. There are things that irk me - the sneakers, of course, the camo (too easy), and the logoed stuff (wtf?), but I am sure a skillful buyer like Karlo will be able to draw out the essence of this collection.Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

Thank you for posting all this yy-pour-homme. Although I assume you must be working for the company, spreading advertising. It is very nice of you. I think we all appreciate it.
The video made me happy, and it made me realize what a huge event it must have been? I don't know if I have ever seen so many people at a fashion show...
The video also made more sense out of the clothes. I realized how perfect some of those garments were cut. Beautiful.
I still think most of it is odd. The whole thing. Odd for the wrong reasons. A fashion show at a stadium? Made the whole collection look so anonymous, and unpersonal. Although the models were acting out/being themselves(?) on the runway. I echo Faust's reactions. Logo scarf? Camouflage pattern? It seemed wrong to me, among other stuff.
Sorry for being so negative.
