anyone else notice lag in US - Europe shipments via USPS?

I've been waiting for one EMS package from the US for 2 weeks and one priority for 7-8 days. its not a crazy delay so far, but both usually take 4-5 days. not a matter of customs either, they are just taking long to travel.

am contemplating a purchase from italy for around 1100usd but fearful of the customs hit.

is ebay, so I could see that getting sticky. i can live with a hit of around $100-200 but not much beyond that.

I have had the worst luck with things from Italy, even things from the US labelled Made In Italy.

Usually works out to around +/- 30% of the value of the item. And this is 100% of the time if they ship DHL, UPS or Fedex.

Keep in mind i am in Canada so it will probably be different for you.

Anybody have any troubles with Deutsche Post (Darklands/Komakino postage)? My item is meant to be headed here to Australia but its status been stuck at 'inward office of exchange USA' for like 5 days now. Do they just not update their tracking often or is it really still there?

I've sent a parcel to Australia a couple of weeks ago. The status was exactly the same for two weeks, then I contacted the buyer and he had already received the parcel. I guess Deutsche Post does not update the tracking after it has left Germany because it will be delivered by a different company in Australia.

German post Tracking just sucks a much as usps tracking. Don't worry.
