So, this might be a pretty stupid question but it does bother me nontheless. I'm going to purcharse my first pair of designer boots and seeing how I'm ready to spend everything I have for them currently I don't really feel like risking. I have CCP tornados in reversed cordovan on target but I'm not sure if going for a regular leather version wouldn't be more versatile. I have never handled nor seen the reversed version thus the question. And no, I'm unable to do so, I'm not up for travelling to Berlin just to do that.
TLDR; Is reversed cordovan able to match anything or would regular leather version be more versatile?
Also - I know about the zipper issues, but how long lasting are they themselves? Changing the zipper is neither time consuming nor pricey so it does not bother me but I would want the boots themselves to last me quite a few years.
And also if anyone would want to say that they won't fit my industrial-trasher look (even though I think they would) I'm moving away from that so it's not an issue.
Sorry if this seems inane.

Offload the TOJ
I started off with 2 toj jackets
Sold them off and got Julius jut plus extra cash
Now I proudly own a Rick intarsia high neck in oiled calf from gleam
To this day I still ask myself why did I get those toj pieces. Internet hype maybe ?

TOJ is good, especially considering it's price, but nothing near the other jackets you mentioned. It's a totally different thing aesthetic wise.
TLDR; sell TOJ get stooges.
