i figure you just want to know a few brands to get basics and stuff for cheap?

aviatic, voidthebrand, ovate, silent (tees are pretty cheap), if only was true, thom krom

sosnovska also has some good looking sweaters for reasonable prices in their sale at the moment

those are the ones i can think of off the top of my head, im sure you could also find a few obscure japanese brands that would be of interest and priced relatively cheaply too.

what I am looking for specifically are plain colored tees, dark blue jeans, and semi-rugged shoes that are comfortable, cheap, high quality, and basic.
Preferably nothing that would make me over-dressed though.
If you could point me over to some good websites that would really help.

[it doesn't even have to be designer made]

I'm completely new to the world of high quality clothing if you can't tell

I like American Apparel long, sheer tank tops. They're dirt cheap and I prefer the fit over Rick Owen's tanks. I always buy some when I'm in London.

Definitely agree with the uniqlo suggestions. I buy heattech for running and various basics that I don't feel like getting 'nice' versions of for whatever reason. I have been pleasantly surprised with the durability of the stuff for the price point.

Yeah. It's (relatively) new to the west but Uniqlo has been around in Asia for ages now and we basically have one on every corner, much like gas stations. In terms of decent basics for cheap, it's hard to recommend anything else.

Their inhouse +J label was also quite good in the early seasons and it's a pity it's not around anymore.

                        Whatever.

The Jil Sander collaboration was exclusively for them, and as far as I'm aware it was never made wholly clear how much it was her designing everything from the ground up. You know what I meant.

For what it's worth the Uniqlo heat tech socks are the shit. They're the first socks I've had (for more than a year now) that look and feel exactly the same as they did when I bought them. I've had like $50+/pr socks in the past that didn't make it through the wash more than twice. The HT thermals and longjohns are also a damn good base layer here in chicago.

Are they really comparable as far as the cut, shape, and length? I'm seeing the viscose tees online and those look similar, but the color selection isn't great.
Might have to pick one up because I've had some AA tees that have lasted me 4+ years now.
