yeah but the soles of doc martens are mad slippery when the ground is frozen over. I almost ended up slipping into a rather scary mountain ditch wearing my docs (I had to walk a fair distance in my socs to avoid dying. fortunately, I was wearing ridiculous toed socks)

Does any pair of shoes without spikes work on frozen ground?
I agree that even docs are slippery when the profile of the sole is full of snow. But they are the only boots (in my cupboard) I can think of to maintain some style in these conditions.
