BSR - thanks. (btw, your jacket is currently in a box 1.5 miles away from me... the post-office is unfortunately closed on sundays)

Apologies for all the shopping questions, but, whats the deal with staples on RO sneakers? Does the construction problem apply to all RO sneakers with staples, or just some seasons?

hey guys, can any of you in Toronto give me a head up of where the best shoe-repairing shop is? My trainers need some help with replacing the sole.

Both of these shops are good:

              1. Nicks or
              2. Shoe Therapy

Tried them once and would not go back as they shaved a little more than necessary on the heel edges on a pair of CCPs.

I'm looking for a certain type of hat, sort of like a wide-brimmed pork pie. Does anyone know what it's called? It's got a flat top and the width of the brim is about 4" or so.

Aside from "wide brimmed porkpie" you might try:

                    - boss of the plains - oldschool stetson title for a hat that has fit your description to varying degrees through the years, also used by other hatters I think.
                    - chupalla, cordobés - two common names for a Central & South American hat of that style.
                    - gat

Are you talking about this style? I always called it a parson's hat or amish hat. I'm sure there's a more formal name for it but I think on Ebay, you can search under those phrases. Some of them have a round top.

I found this one at a local thrift store so I don't have any idea of what the proper term would be. But it's got a flat top and the bill is about 4" around.

I found another one called the Gaucho too but the ones you listed are pretty much what I'm looking for. Thanks for all the help Patroklus and beardown.

beardown- that hat looks like a hat that hassidic jews wear. i've always called it a preacher hat though. i took the train to new york in january and saw a few hassidic jews with these perfect hat shaped boxes and thought it was cool because i have never seen a box specifically formed to each hat to maintain it's shape almost like an instrument case.

I would say that Rick has a few, but others that come to mind is Adeline Basely and CON.
