The tailor I usually use won't touch the overlock stitching on my jeans and he's normally very good and accommodating. For example he gets the Harnden aesthetic perfectly and alters really sympathetically in my view.

I know who the Library recommend. They altered two overcoats for me and a pair of jeans. Unfortunately the last time I went to them they weren't straight on the pricing (it kept escalating) and took so long I'm not going back there. Their work was good mind you. I could give you their details if you want Seenmy but not sure you'd want them. Let me know...

i don't know if you'd even be able to take a sleeve in four inches at the shoulder without altering the way it wears in the bicep pretty drastically.

Have a LUC double layer silk knit that I want to wash.
Is it ok to machine wash it or should I bring it to a dry cleaner?

That's a very interesting question actually. I'd say that a few members are making big money , others have regular salaries (i.e confortable) and that the rest, around 60 to 80% of the forum, are rich kids who browse the interwebz. And this explains that.

the question is pretty funny though, I wonder what the op was assuming the answer to be. Some people earn more, some less, some struggle, some swim in a pool of coins, some get money elsewhere (trust fund / poker / crack). theres no universal secret to affording this or that.
