Is 36CM waist size too tight for my size which is around 30 W / 32L in jeans ?

All the above answers are meaningless because BBS sizing is so screwed up. You can get a S that fits like a 32 or a S that fits like a 28.

Don't have trousers from the above mentioned SS12 in my rotation but all the ones I have (2011, 2013, 2014) are all consistent in sizing so don't know what you're specifically referring to.

i know its sad but i really don't own any sort of measuring tape / ruler. I haven't really measured any part of my body for the past couple years but all i know is that i usually fit 30-31 waist jeans

Well as a rough guide, a size 30 in jeans usually equates to roughly 32" in actual circumference, which is 16" or so measured across. Thats 40-41cm.

if you wear 30-31, you're usually better to take a size M in BBS, you might need a belt though.. S will fit you too, if you're 30 and leaning a little bit towards 29.

Recommendation for a collared ('dressy') shirt? Would like something with character for a Christmas party this weekend.

Perhaps one that is elongated so that it be worn untucked, yet still paired with a blazer?

I find it hard to believe that a BBS size S would ever fit like a 32 as grapefruitpop claimed, I'm a 32-33 in typical jeans sizing and I have never seen BBS pants below size L that would fit me. Not saying I've tried everything over the years, but from what I have seen up close, it has been consistently small/slim.

I had a pair from ss13 (or maybe ss12?). That was a waxed/pressed dark khaki colour in a S, that fit a 32 ish. Then the following season there were various models that fit 1-2 sizes smaller.
