seems i'm not the only one:
"Crocking" is the term used in the textile industry to describe the process of dye being removed from fabric by rubbing. For example, the indigo dye used in denim blue jeans can end up rubbing off, or crocking, and giving you blue-tinted legs. It can also stain your furniture and light-colored clothing.

This article explains why vinegar and salt are used in the process of dyeing, but why they won't really help after the process has completed. As suggested, wash with a detergent.
Naturally, they're your pants...so experiment if need be. I'm just rather lazy about this stuff and would rather just try to wash them once or twice before resorting to vinegar, etc.i traded my LUC jeans + Julius belt + Neil Barrett jeans for a blamain biker jeans

I'd expect the Rick denim to be sanforized, so I don't even think it should shrink too much. Like others have said just wash inside out with some Woolite Dark if you want to keep as much dye as possible and see if that makes it any better before you go to salt and vinegar, etc...

i handwash my dark denims with arcane old timey soaps like dr. bronners. i don't know about the drkshdws, but my jeans hardly fade when I use this method. eventually they reach a point where it doesn't matter because there's so little indigo left, and I just throw them in the machine.
of course, crocking is kind of the point with overdyed jeans like that, so why are you even worried?
