On the other hand, keep in mind that Antwerp is a great city to
visit, stock sales or no. And the non-sale shopping is pretty
    kick-ass too. ;)

Thanks Droogist. Although I would love to visit Antwerp properly, this would be just a daytrip and the main reason would be to get to the Annd D sale. Has anyone been to her sale before? Any idea what proportion of the clothes are mens' and what the prices are like? Also, who stocks Raf in Antwerp and what are his prices like in Belgium at non-sale?

Louis stocks Raf, not sure who else. The prices are better than elsewhere as far as I remember.

Sample sale season is starting in New York.

            11/10–11/12
A.P.C.’s slightly Euro-hipster stash of men’s, women’s, and kids’ clothes and accessories are up to 80 percent off. 33 Grand St., nr. Kent Ave., Williamsburg, Brooklyn (212-966-9685, ext. 19); Fri.–Sun. (noon–7).

How hilarious (because it's typical) that it's in Williamsburg.

Does Nicole Farhi sell her stuff over there? It's pretty middle-of-the-road but I think she always makes good cords in lovely earth tones.

Yes, as a matter of fact her flagship boutique is across Barneys, with the restaurant and all. Her stuff also gets to the big discounter here, Century21. Her stuff has not appealed to me in a while, but it may be worth checking out for something basic like that.

The irony is that it wasn't Billieburg locals going to the sale. Which was mobbed. And I didn't find anything of note. Thank God.

This is why I prefer to buy retail. Sometimes buying in the comfort of a good store environs with a full stock of merch and hopeful sales associates (who have no idea I take forever to decide on any purchases, much to their later chagrin) is the only way to go.

They seem sooner than usual, only because the weather has been so warm that sales haven't been up and they need to move merch. Well that's one benefit of Global Warming. Of course, without any real winters, we may have to resort to cotton all year round...
