i think the pants fall fine, there's nothing that bugs me more than 'elaborately fixed' stacks/hem falling on shoes.

But I do know exactly where you're coming from as far as contrived falling of fabrics. It's the same way with hairstyle. Ought to look at least a little thrown together and non premeditated.
