pedro costa's colossal youth.
pretty much everything about this film --
from the sheer materiality of its filmic elements - colour, angles, lighting, texture, etc. -
to every detailed facet of its narrative composition - gazes, interrupted silences, gait, pathos, humour, etc..
see japanese trailer here

Maybe he's just demonstrating how dropped the crotch is. It's like people drawing rectangles to show where their shoulders are under the fabric.Last edited by BeauIXI; 12-09-2008, 11:32 PM.Originally posted by philip nodsomebody should kop this. this is forever.

To start with, I've been trying to remember for a while what it was about those first Damir showroom photos showing up that seemed familiar / that I really appreciated - then I watched my copy of Zatoichi again today. Wish those Damir pants weren't absolutely rape prices. No picture but I love the slim cropped rough-jersey looking pants cropped just above the ankle with sandals. The mix of fabric / textures / subtle colors is nice as well.
Great textile mix. I seem to spend a lot of time lusting after "japanese" clothing and textiles a lot and it's disappointing how little knowledge I have (thus why I have to just call it "japanese" clothing). Being so reliant on modern design makes me envious of other's knowledge of "anthropological" fashion (Merz and american vintage, for instance). I'll have to look for some books in the library once I get back to RISD.
