I might agree with you but that's not just his observation. If you google, 'pot bellies on men fashionable' (sans quotes) you'll bring up an entire host of stories and articles about how 'Mad Men' has inspired the pot belly trend and how it's even crossed the gay/straight boundary.

He may have been having fun but the trend is real...and like I mentioned, just like all the other trends that people seem to adopt, the media (tv shows, articles, web sites) are definitely running with it.
