when i see that picture i imagine a military base camp in WW2 or something that got air raided in the middle of the night and a soldier had to throw on his boots and run out to man an anti-aircraft machine gun or something wearing only the long johns he wears to sleep...and his boots. and the long johns are dirty grey and stretched out because they rarely get washed.

Heh, before you "outlined the issue" with the leggings, Shucks, I wasn't see it.

Couldn't figure out what was so WTF about them. Was actually sittin' here thinking what a cool take on a layering legging with that circa Civil War-ish detailing goin' on & washed-out finish.

I'd concluded it must revolve around some false assumption that they're meant to be worn alone & all "gangsta-drop-crotch" style just because Darklands photogaphed 'em sans shorts or whatev layered over & because they weren't / couldn't be pulled all the way up, like women's hosiery (now that would be wrong).

Fast forward a couple hours & add red highlight et voila – the blind can suddenly see.

It's a strategy to sell dropcrotch shorts....Poor client realizes he just bought something that cannot be worn without them and bang, extra sale! Of course 5 mins after putting on the shorts poor owner realizes that having the tight be drop crotch serves no aesthetic purpose (they're under shorts) AND is mighty uncomfortable.
