So was Leonardo da Vinci and many other great artists, so don't get me wrong, being an autodidact it's not bad in itself. What I meant was that watching his shows makes me think more of a self-taught guy with mediocre skill and talent than a top-of-his-class fashion graduate.
Also, I don't get why he stages shows. Even though he gets the models for free (or almost) and locations for cheap, it still seems to be a lot of money for someone that small. I wonder if having just a showroom would be a better choice, but knowing designers having a show is 'good' just for the sake of the show itself and how 'cool it is to have a show during fashion week'. I don't know the guy too well though, so I won't put him that label on him, but I can't help but wonder...

They may still be on of the ugliest designer-items I've ever seen. At least those weird multi-color robot sandals he made a few years back were fun and quirky, even though they weren't exactly pleasing to the eyes. These shoes just look like a pair of generic $30 ultra ugly running shoes.
