but disregarding their douchey hollywood clientele (and any douchey designs that appeal to said clients), how do you feel about CH as a business? (or can't the two be separated?)
from what i know they seem to be pretty passionate about what they do and about keeping it crafted and independent?
As far as the craft aspect is concerned, I've heard that the manufacture of CH jewelry shifted away from 'handmade' after the departure of Leonard Kamhout, with their quality decreasing significantly. I'm not at all sure if this is true, and someone like AKA would have more solid info.

did some reading up just now. seems many people agree with what you are saying. guess that if there isn't even any personal drive and craftsmanship behind the brand anymore, there really isn't much of anything... oh well..

dane your argument is 'reductio ad absurdum' to say the least... there are plenty of esthetic expressions and styles that are not to my personal liking, but that i can appreciate deeply for the craft and the thinking behind them. (victor horta is one example.) this is something which i find easier the older i get and the greater my knowledge and esthetic sensitivity.

How can quality of a 925 sliver ring or a chain can decrease significantly? What, did they throw out all of their equipment or hired chimps to operate the machines?

from what i read earlier today, this may not be far from the truth...
Faust: I think it would have to do with increasing the use of moulds as opposed to shaping things by hand. And CH make more than just rings and basic chains. They also do belt buckles
