Look on the bright side: there are shoes to match.

    Celine SS2013

Love that she used Useless by Depeche Mode for the show music, and, because I love
a good tongue planted firmly in cheek, I can't help but love the collection, freaky-feet and all.
    Good dirty fun.

"The slouchy, flat-front trousers with their crotches carelessly low,
the trenchcoats slung over short dresses with full furry slippers—
there was something of the walk of shame about the lot,
as well as the nineties up-all-night attitude,
when Helmut Lang clothes would be flashed and trashed in clubs.

And yet it all really felt like CĂ©line and Phoebe Philo."

A Time Out and Daily News Top Ten Book of the Year upon its initial release, Please Kill Me is the first oral history of the most nihilist of all pop movements. Iggy Pop, Danny Fields, Dee Dee and Joey Ramone, Malcom McLaren, Jim Carroll, and scores of other famous and infamous punk figures lend their voices to this definitive account of that outrageous, explosive era. From its origins in the twilight years of Andy Warhol’s New York reign to its last gasps as eighties corporate rock, the phenomenon known as punk is scrutinized, eulogized, and idealized by the people who were there and who made it happen.

Man, Raf can send anything down the runway and people will still find nice things to say. I am however speechless at this:

"Just as the fashion world waits for Miuccia Prada to set the sartorial tone in Milan every season, in Paris that honor now goes to Raf Simons. So where is Simons sending men next winter? On a quest for a new interpretation of what masculinity is supposed to mean.

With this collection the designer seemed like he was questioning the traditional standards of what a viral man has to look like. On his catwalk as the Chris Isaak song “Baby Did a Bad Bad Thing” played, Simons offered up the argument that men don’t need strict tailoring or structured outerwear to look and feel powerful.

The power comes from within the man himself.

It doesn’t matter if he is wearing a somewhat dandy looking coat in a slightly A-lined shape. A self assured modern man will be able to combine a pair of full cut floor skimming pants with shirts in strong shades of egg yoke yellow, mint green or robin egg blue that finish in pointy long lapels and cuffs. He can wear with confidence a double-breasted jacket with a band of fabric lashed across the chest or a shell sweater covered in lines of pixelated computer images of a musketeer.

Buts most of all the strength of a Simons man comes from his choice to be an individual. To challenge the status quo and decide that being daring in the way he dresses is the best way to disarm his adversaries and retain, at the very least, a sartorial supremacy."

Basically what it says is: If you're man enough, you can wear any ill-fitting crap. No shit Sherlock.
Hi. I like your necklace. - It's actually a rape whistle, but the whistle part fell off.

another season, another trainwreck. Raf really continues to out-do himself in that sense.

Tim Blanks is quoting Raf (here)

"The defined silhouette over the last six or seven years has been very Balenciaga-inspired for everyone, myself included. It's become a garderobe [a wardrobe] and it doesn't feel like high fashion that says something to me personally."
I don't like his solution (=this collection), but he has a point here.

^ he also said he doesn't want to be perceived only in one way anymore, and it is interesting the reaction is mixed. (i am paraphrasing here a little) I think he is very aware of what he is doing here, but i guess many long time raf fans miss that more combative and moody RS than the dandy one that we are seeing here.
