WTFing the chinese and then going back and WTFing the Koreans, is super anti asia territory vibes dripping from the seams of SZ if you want to portray it in this light, which is what Faust is getting at IMHO, he senses this kind of hostility and I completely get what he means if that's the sentiment.

They seem to also be implying (and correct me if I'm wrong here) that they don't exactly need clients outside of CH due to their newer CCP policies, so I'd actually argue with this and say that yes, INK is facilitating it for it to be easier for their mainline/HK clients to take their Carol home with them, and focusing less on other clients as an indirect result of their increase in Chinese clients. (Of course it's not like they don't welcome foreign clientele, but it's been discussed in other threads[the affiliate thread, etc. ], no need to take it further than this. )

I only said that to be more specific without namedropping, I frankly don't care if he attends or not.

Plenty here already deride A1923 for ripping off CCP and riding on Altieri's coattails. The only reason he gets some sort of pass is because is quality is apparently really good. Hell, the derivative argument is plenty blasted on Bergfabel too, though that might stop soon since some have said his quality is better than Harnden and apparently Harnden has stagnated some after Dawson left.

Regarding "Patriot," people will probably soften up to the brand if it gets bigger and it is deemed as... not like Fabrixquare or something.

Trigger - you need to chill out, champ. That jacket is WTF regardless of the designer's ethnicity. Tryng to associate me wtf'ing it with being "anti asia" is just plain funny.

Good on you for trying to somehow make Faust's argument more legit though.

The Chinese with serious cash, at least those who are exporting their wealth to the USA, are engaged in a feeding frenzy for property in Arcadia, CA, an area becoming known as the Chinese Beverly Hills. The good thing (and funny thing) about this is that all builders in that market consult a Feng Shui specialist before architectural plans get approved. The Chinese ain't buying any home with a staircase facing the front door or an office positioned in the wrong place. The builders learned this the hard way. Houses would sit unsold until the builders reconfigured the interiors to conform to a favorable Feng Shui scheme. A handful of years from now when that market falls apart, there will be many magical houses that will make the buyers happy and prosperous available for cheap. Thanks to the wealthy Chinese for that, and maybe if they have to flee the county quickly to evade the Xi Jinping hit men, they will leave the obligatory Maserati in the garage.

So? My neighborhood is full of large houses and Maseratis, all owned by Sephardic Jews whose idea of style is an "H" belt buckle sticking out from under their Zegna suit jacket. I neither envy nor hate them. More like amused...

Oh no! It's a Korean brand, hence this goes from being hate on some shit-tier knockoff job to hating Asians. Some serious US corporate level political correctness going on here, what a sad sight. Also, triggerdiscipline, Augusta got more hate here than any other designer I can remember for copying ccp, so that was perhaps a poor example.

Um, who is the customer for this? Karl for LV. Karl has lost his mind, and it is clear that no one is going to stop him. [IMG][/IMG]

If you believe there needs to be an actual customer for every proposal a designer makes, you are missing the bigger picture. I don't even know where to start with you, so I won't even bother.

That's not a proposal. That is an actual item gone through the rigors of production with meetings about material selection and hardware development and sand selection, and it's not an item that sees the spotlight on the runway and gets a bit of press for the company even though it may never be considered for production in any real way. It is a quintessential WTF, especially considering that is produced by a public company with shareholders to appease.

I see a trend that is becoming more flagrant among long-established luxury brands to produce items that not long ago would be considered absurd, items that exist outside what would ordinarily be considered within the purview of luxury. A quick example other than the above that pops into my head is Karl's recent 20K shopping basket.

This all goes hand in hand with the shrinking middle class and the growing affluent and poor classes, and also the need for a public company to expand its market and to always be growing. Maybe as the once middle class or poor become rich they take their previous activities with them on that journey, such as grocery shopping and boxing. They also used to clean their toilets, so maybe next is a LV toilet brush?
