I wouldn't call his clothing underwhelming so much as unwearable in most situations without looking like a costume.
Well, if you want to get specific, the basics always seem too basic and the more substantial pieces feel costumey. Underwhelming in terms of wearability or actually crossing the threshold into purchasing.
For one thing, I agree that the basics most stores seem to sell are extremely underwhelming. So far the only online retailers I've encountered that stock a more decent selection are Layers and Bonnie & Clyde's.
I like almost everything Layers has for sale at the moment, and I think his tailored pieces have gotten really strong compared to last summer - this is great and quite easy to wear. The jeans are also very nice. Still, I find his prices to be too high, considering the quality of most of his garments (worse than Rick's imo).
Personally I have some days when I just want to look completely asexual and emasculated, and for me nothing represents that mood better than GP.

This project seems to be perfect for Pugh...he excels at costume design, as shown in his earlier shows (posted above). When you take away the theatrics, you're left with basics, and his signature geometric pattern and peculiar cuts aren't exactly pleasing to the eye or often flattering on the body. Add his redonk prices to that, and you have a big fail.
Love the spider-dancer though.

I can kinda understand when people sell Rick totes and similar since they're kinda nice to carry around and people like kunk could probably start a small side busines selling them but boxes and garment bags are just ridiculous

"AVANT GUARDE HIGHEST FASHION. NOW NOW this is it people, these are the brands no one fucking knows and people are like WTF. they do everything by hand in their freaking secret basement and shit."
I think a lot of people like Pugh from a distance but there's something about his garments that have never translated for me. The general design aesthetic he creates is perfect for costuming (as seen here) but his clothing feels underwhelming to me most of the time.
I don't really think this is WTF...I think it's kind of cool but without the context of the photo, it does leave you wondering what the fuck is actually going on.
Nailed it

To me Gareth is like the underdog I can't help but constantly root for. When he nails it, I feel extremely happy for him. But when he's just rehashing, I'll let it go and wait for the next season hoping he'll redeem himself, eventually. With that said I would never buy his overpriced basics.
interest1, is that meant for bedroom activities? Whoever gets turned on by that, I can't help but feel creeped out, sorry.
