No, they're the RTW line done by Edward Green to top drawer (EG top line) level but designed by Massaro. EG doesn't even make a zip boot and I have never seen something from them that even comes close in term of shape. I don't really do bespoke but if you need them price is lower than Lobb or whatever for now at €3500-4000.

OMG! Black zip suede boots are INFORMAL!!?? Dude I like EG's construction but I don't like their offerings precisely because I find them to be aiming for the type of yuppie client who is afraid to be tacky. Of course my fav type of footwear are white trainers and zip boots so I am the shoe-devil.

The longterm cleaning of black suede is nearly impossible (dust turns it into evil grayish), that is why I personally prefer brown suede.

It comes down to that EG will always be "classic" for me and that last doesn't fit the picture. For something fancier I would prefer Carmina or the MTO patina option of Septieme Largeur.

well at least it results into something symmetrical and it is flexible as leather = anatomically the better option (less likely to form hurting pressure points).

In fact balmoral boots are the most classic solution, only horrible to lace.

Edward Green is the gold standard for me. It is the degree of shaping around the foot that distinguishes them. The fit, translating to the visual appeal of the shape. Fuck, yeah. My first pair was a revelation.

Yes, the designs, colours and finishes are traditional.

I've since bought Augusta boots which are superb, and a pair of Carol spirals (makes me walk like a Furry Freak Brother) and I think I will be reverting to EG. I just cannot justify the price differential.
