These are the A1923 Calcutta derbies I recently picked up from The Library thanks to the good finds thread:

The leather is very substantial and is slightly off-black - a very dark grey.

My only complaint is that the stitches on the sole deviate from the stitch channel in a couple of places, which means they are directly on the sole, and will wear through very quickly. It's a minor gripe I suppose, but something I would think should be picked up as part of the quality assurance process (especially when you consider the price).

I gave back the supreme/undercover trench: it has really horrendous fitting and fabric. I can't belive how bad it's been costructed...

I'll post a WAYWT with Balmain's. They are the most understated version, of course (black, lightly waxed, no distressing), and done RO style (long top, tucked into boots) they look discreet. I mulled the purchase for quite some time, for obvious reasons. In the end I decided that it's kinda punk, but I'll let Fuuma get down to the semiotic nitty-gritty of this...

I have a pair of bikers in black. I really wanted the wax ones, but I wear mine a lot and they're a nice jean with some slight intricacies that make my usual "loose tee, jeans, combat boots" outfit a bit more interesting.

I dunno, personal distaste put aside, Balmain is like any venerable fashion house with a totally new menswear relaunch, not worst than SLP or Lanvin in the end. Semiotics are pretty straightforward, they signify punk to those who are unaware of Balmain and (rapper-approved) luxe for those who are.

Some bad some good

The bad, Nude:MM cropped linen trousers. Actually an awesome pair of pants I must say. But as I do all my purchasing, I did no research and just pressed "buy". I thought they were suspender pants but apparently they are not. So now I might try sewing some on them
