Shifts, have you received this jacket? I'm curious to find out what you think about the way it fits.
I purchased one of the heavy wool Peacoats from last season with the same slits on the sides at the waist. I loved everything about the jacket except the slits; they made the coat sit weird, the front always felt too separated; opened or closed. I also think the slits made the jacket look to wide at the bottom to my liking. I tried really hard to convince myself to keep it, but the fit was to awkward.
I hope you don't have this issue; maybe the problem with mine was the wool being so heavy.

Hi etgreg: Yes, received it just in time for a mini vacation in Portugal and brought it along as my only outer garment. I know the separation you are talking about from the peacoats, I have seen this in images of them. But I can't say I have had any issue with the slits on this one, they stay quite close to the body when not moving and are heavy enough to not flap around too much when on the move.
So far I really enjoy the jacket, substantial material and sturdy like hell. My only minor complaint is with the string on the back. It is a tad too long, creating a bit of a loop when standing normally. It would have been nice to have a shorter one, if only for an inch or so.

Building my small wardrobe. Really happy so far with these two purchases.
Marsèll derbies. I'm normally a size 41, but a 39 in these actually fits me really well.
11 BBS jeans. I struggle to buy pants because I'm so slender, but these are a great fit. The xs in these fits very much like my drkshdw detroit cut jeans in a women's 26. Also note: despite what my terrible photography might convey, these jeans are jet black with blue contrast stitching.

Alright, here the Drkshdw jacket is in use. No posing, candid pictures taken by g/f while walking around Porto. Arms are long and it shows here, actually didn't think they looked THAT long until I saw these images.
Fantastic city btw, enjoyed it immensely.
