god i love those rick owens sneakers
Am I the only one who is immune to them?! [72]
Of course you would be immune. Don't you hate designer sneakers in general? RO is just another subset of that.
Well, I find these especially grotesque... which is Rick's point, I suppose, and maybe a highest compliment paid to the man. But, yea, you are right - I do hate designer sneakers overall. However, don't take this as a sweeping aesthetic generalization.
Over RO, or sneakers in general? RO's got an ugly~beautiful thing going. I think it also stems from his body being so perfectly honed, that he sees distorting it part of the allure. But also, he's got a freaky aesthetic overall. I really respond to that, even if it doesn't necessarily always work for me.

      Wire.artist- that piece looks excellent.

Faust- Nobody I am close to likes my RO trainers, my gf calls them "nikes on steroids".

Designer sneakers that is. You know I like ROs clothes a lot. I love his aesthetic, since my (clever, I thought) "grotesque" comment.

There's a pop-culture geek in that man - he did say he called his last Fall collection Exploder because it reminded him of "Transformers," and I think he was referring more to the cartoon thn the recent movie.

I've looked at all-white RO hi-tops next to nike AFI his and can tell you this is a direct hommage if there ever was one. They're pretty much exactly like AFI but with a longer tongue and top partand, surprisingly, a slimmer last. There's even traces of a pseudo nike logo.

Faust, lol, I need to get used to it first.[86] To be fair though, I am probably overstating things, as I am generally so conservative in that respect...it's just very different from what I have been buying the past few years, yet feels like a nice change. [73]
