Been denied entry to a club for underdressing. The doorman said my blazer "looks like something you made yourself" (was a unbalanced doma jacket, if only...) and that he would "forgive" it if I put on a collared shirt.

Hey now, that's a bit quick. Perhaps she is loving and supportive in all the other areas that really count, which is what matters.

The emphasis is on "complain". If you try to reflect your personality in the way you dress, somebody who tries to change the way you dress by complaining about it cuts back on your personality.
