I would say it depends on what top...
For me personally, a Sz.Small in RO fits pretty tight - so do Julius Longsleeves in Sz.2
But the tee I tried on was pretty wide and long.
      I'ld say Small RO = Julius 2
So if you're a 44 (XS) in RO I would personally go for a Sz.1

Probably one of the most inane questions ever but searching did not turn up answers...

Pit to pit measurements of leather jackets/blazers often reflect their tagged size, i.e. p2p 48cm = tagged 48

However whats the rule for shirts? Most tagged 48 shirts have p2p measurements of... 51~52cm?

Just needed some clearing up on this issue, sorry if it sounds inane.

Sometimes on jackets, you've got a lining (often fairly bulky) to consider with the fit for actual measurements.
Shirts are generally thinner so they fit more true to measurement.
But pit to pit is questionable sometimes because of the height of the arm holes. Some thinner cut shirts have higher armholes so you're not really getting a proper chest measurement.
Sometimes you'll see people do a pit to pit measurement and then a measurement of about an inch lower for the chest proper.

But really, sizing varies so much between designers and labels and you almost have to ignore the size tag at times and just get as many measurements you need if you want a really good fit and can't try something on in person.

Unfortunately, it really is tough to get a great fit on a shirt or jacket without trying it on in real life. It's a crap shoot at times.
Check as many measurements as possible against something that you already own that fits you perfectly and do as many comparisons as you can.

Thanks beardown for the great response as always.

Since my weight loss, nothing I have really fits me at the moment. I guess I'll just stick a tape measure in my pants and go nuts in department stores here in Sydney trying on shirts. Kind of pussying out on shirts online due to the hesitation over sizing.

                  hope that helps somewhat.
ah damn. i was hoping it will only be slightly oversized. anyway thanks for the info.

hey everyone. I'm a medium/large in Rick Owens jackets. I am interested in the samurai coat. If anyone has any experiences with the coat, i would like to know your thoughts. Would a large fit me? or would i be good with a medium.

                    thanks in advanced

                          looking at some Alden indy's

what would accomodate a TTS 40.5 ? [i take 40 if they run large, and 41 if something runs TTS]

                          I wear
                          39.5 in Ann
                          41 in Rick
39 in Diem [40 is ok but looser]

                          im leaning towards 7.5 ?

                          thanks for any help

Second this. Friend of mine bought the Samurai (or Jedi as he calls it) in S, although he's M in other Rick wear like his Perfecto leather jacket.

Should I size down on DBSS?
I am thinking about purchasing this cardigan..
I wear a Sz.2 at Julius and Small at Rick...
Wondered if this is going to stretch out, as well.
                              Question is: Sz.1 or 2

Does anybody know about Collection Privée Shoe-sizing ?
I usually wear 44-45 but since the biggest size still available is 44 i fear they might turn out a bit too small...
                                Thanks
