^ +1 - a good cobbler will be able to handle that issue without problems. Make sure you ask him to re-use to old holes (this may be obvious, but some cobblers don't bother).

At the very least, I would put on heel taps. You can DIY or have a cobbler do it. If it were me, I would put on a rubber sole and heel for longer wear/easier resoling in the future. Vibram is a popular brand of rubber sole/heel to put on. Topy works as well.WTB: 45" chest leather jacket

Thanks guys for the input. I have a high instep indeed but the boots are not too small. And, I think it's due to the cotton thread which becomes fragile after snow, rain and regular use. Maybe a non organic thread would hold up much longer.
I will visit my cobbler tmr. to hear again another argument why I should not buy boots like this anymore hahaha. Cheers!

yes you can, and i'd do it right from the start since otherwise the soles will wear down super fast, but depending on the glue your cobbler uses, the soles may start to come off quite rapidly. so you will have to go back every now and then to have them re-glued, unless you find a cobbler that uses glue that worked well on crepe rubber. (i did....)
as for reinforcing the staples i have no idea, i've just let mine rust off...
