              Cordovan cracking

Well, shit. These secondhand A1923 boots were my go to boots but now it seems to unravel that the previous owner hasn't really given a shit about them. Is there anything left but the slow (or fast) decay? Is it worth conditioning the shit out of them now?

Googled them and found a condition called dry rot?

No, they're cracks. They open up when one asserts pressure on them.

Small amount of conditioner every few hours. Talk to a cobbler.

So you think it's no too late for a salvage operation? Some of them seem relatively deep and near the welt...

Nothing to lose talking to a leather expert, at least. I'd still slap some conditioner on it, regardless. Cobbler might have some sort of "glue" to help hide the damage, at least, and prevent it from continuing.

I'd also stop wearing those boots for a bit.

Looking for a good cobbler in Milan if anyone can help. Rick and A1923 experience preferred!

Ok, shoot. Sorry to revive a never-ending conversation, but: which cobbler are boston/cambridge folks using right now? I used the guy in Davis Square, but he died.

i've experienced this before. as i understand it's not related to neglect, rather it was just a bad hide. i'd try contacting simone.

on a somewhat related note, my double zips tore along the heel cup when i was putting them on today:

anyone know if this is something a cobbler can fix relatively easily? the leather is intact, it just needs to be restitched as far as i can see. going to drop by firm tomorrow but trying to set my expectations.
