Nah, pnod, the cords don't bother me, although I never adjust them to make it blouson more. You could always loop and tie them either together or in on themselves to make them shorter, or even cut them if you're so inclined. Perhaps it makes more sense on jacket than on an overcoat.
And yeah, I thought I'd post the pic since all this discussion of it made me pull it out and wear it today when I went to meet up with Casius. The hood came in handy today, but if you want to convert it, I love the fact that you can unzip the hood then zip the collar into itself so it's a standing collar. In other words, Buy this thing if you can find it!
