I think I misunderstood the situation somewhat.
It's understandably irritating and I'm personally not a fan of the practice myself. I wish people wouldn't do it either, but that's that.
I didn't realize either that there were already bidders on the thing, either. I find that especially despicable. I wish sellers would tell "early buyers" to bid their $200 instead of just flat-out selling it to them, it's better for everyone involved, especially the seller most of the time, considering that if one person is willing to put up $200 there's almost certainly another who'll do the same, if not more.
