This just happened to me a little while ago for the first time.

There are certain criteria, like selling over $100 with under 100 feedback, certain amount of negative feedback, probably some other things, that if you fall under they will hold the money that you are receiving until either a certain amount of time has passed or the seller leaves positive feedback.

I was pissed because I couldn't convert money into CDN when the exchange was in my favor, but luckily I was just putting something on ebay so the buyer could take advantage of the discount and he left me feedback right away, so it cleared the next day.

Thats true, I had to wait 3 days after the item showed delivered to get the money released BUT I had to call it in. Its a pain for sellers but as a buyer I feel a lot more comfortable buying from someone wth no feedback or fear of fakes etc.

/\ It could be the seller jacking the bid price up. I've had that happen to me and bailed out on bidding before it got ludicrous. The seller ended up coming back to me almost immediately upon auction's end to say that the other bidder backed out..yeah right. Ended up getting the piece at my last high bid, which was still high, but not out of hand. Just FYI..sharks patrol these waters, you know?
