If Atelier is any example there is something to be said for actually seeing and trying Julius pieces on in person. They have an incredible sell through every season. Not everyone is willing to go to the trouble of a proxy service for an item they have never actually touched or even tried.

Same piece retails for £2325 in London. Which equates to about $3500.
So the mark ups are fairly similar on both sides of the pond for japanese brands.
The average mark up used for non in eu products (in London anyway) is x3.
I have never come across a designer/high end boutique that ever marks up anything as low as 2.2 .
2.5-2.7 is average. 3 for non eu products.
