We must have different definitions of consumerism, then. Actually defining it would be a good exercise.

actually i would be more interested in a discussion on consumerism than in where 2 kop, but maybe this isn't the thread for it. i just hope SZ is the right forum for it...

Interestingly enough just read a Baudrillard essay on "Systems of Objects" today that had some very definite things to say about consumption. Doesn't really strike a pretty mirror though, that.

the seller is the same seller that i bought mine from, seems he had gotten them off of yoox,
I have a feeling based on my discussions with him, that he is a member of, or at the very least, knows of SZ.........

i've seen that pic. But it's from takuya (on Sufu) and they're size 6, not 7 as listed in that sale thread.????

if they're the same ones and in size 6, i'll go for them right away.

One'd be better off just reading Marx, notably the first chapter of Das Kapital. That Baudrillard piece is essentially Marx in the aforementioned guise "sexed up" with some semiotics, a.k.a. the intellectual trend of the time (France circa 50's/60's), give or take. Marx transcends that shit. Shame no one reads him anymore.

There has been a bit of a resurgence of Marx, particularly in the wake of the recession, which happened exactly as he described in the Communist Manifesto (which I teach :-)). This might be of interest.
