Yup, Barneys NYC has them allright. A month ago I swear they were only $960. That black and white is one of the best designed trainers I've seen in a while. My black ones are nicely getting dirty with wear. Here's another badass combo I just found recently:

Yea I think it was H-R who said the retail prices went up by almost $200! Damn it!

I guess I'll give Barneys a call and see what other RO items they have. I really want to get a crew neck sweater after getting this turtleneck from A, it's just gorgeous!!

Faust- I truly appreciate the honesty. I'm actually on the fence about them too, although I've liked them for a while. Though I am going to try them on this weekend (albeit the olive color) and see how I like them on my feets. :)

Oh, and I'm not fond of the price either.

To put in my two cents, the sneakers have really grown on me. A lot.

I think it may be influence of how fascinated I am at the moment by the whole "chunky shoe" aesthetic, so I doubt the infatuation will last long, and at that price I think it's worth taking that into consideration, but that's just me! From what Casius has said about it, and taking his aesthetic and tastes into the equation, I can very well see them being a useful, if expensive, addition to his wardrobe.

Thanks for the input guys. The reason I'm leaning more toward them right now is because I've been wearing my con's to death! I want a sneaker that has a little more substance. At first it was going to be the Lanvin sneak but it's too shiny for me. :(

Maybe I'll snap some camera phone shots. heheh.

Cas, did you take a look at the Diet Butcher Slim Skin hi-tops? They were pretty damn similar to the RO's but for only 39,000 Yen...easier to justify than the $1.1k RO's.

^those only go up to 28 cm though. and for some reasons there's something lacking in them compared to the RO ones. but of course, they're much more affordable
