“You know,” he says, with a resilient smile, “it is a hard world for poets.”

We are just kidding, relax. But I do want to make it more visible - there are plenty of people that simply don't read the announcements section - they have told me so - and miss the fact that the magazine exists.
I must say this though - there is hardly any advertising in the magazine, so we rely on individual and store sales. It is only through the readers support that the magazine has a chance and that we can create something new, beautiful, and worthwhile. And I hope people understand that and not be cynical about it. It's a project that we poured our hearts into.
E, may I ask if you've considered the SOME/THINGS model of removing ads all-together and instead incorporate sponsored content written in editorial style? That way the reading experience remains seamless and you could rely less directly on readership and sales. I know next to nothing about this business but it seems to work for SOME/THINGS who operates within a similar sphere.
And then we would have to charge you all $100. I believe part of the some/things model is based on promotion of her other business which is consulting/photography.
Keep your vision it is working brilliantly.
Michael - of course we are only kidding but as Freud said behind every joke....
As Faust and The Thief can't really talk about their own magazine I can - again!!
The way I see it this magazine (with the website) has the chance to be something great and very influential within the industry.
To have an alternative on the magazine/ bookstand is so important -giving a different perspective than the shit that is served up.
I know I keep championing the magazine but I am passionate about it's importance and relevance in today's cultural landscape.
All it needs is our continued support.
There have been many very good magazines that have started up and sadly fizzled out in a short time. We cannot allow this to happen to SZ magazine.
Ochre, I also want to add that WE WANT people to buy the magazine. We want them to read it and enjoy it and to be glad that there is something worthwhile out there and just a bunch of shit photos and inane blurbs, that a fashion publication can be different.
Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde
