Haven't made a RO purchase in a long time but are these tote/dust bags out of production or not coming with clothing anymore? I am starting to see them rise in price from the 50-60 USD they were getting to upwards of 100 USD! Ridiculous!

Is that what Grailed has done? Grailed certainly lowers the bar and makes it easier to participate in "the hype". But didnt brands purposefully do this themselves with licensing/accessories?

I don't see Rick Owens licensing anything. Licensing is the thing of the past. What I see is more self-entitlement on the part of the consumer, especially the young one, who is more educated about brands (not fashion, because his education take place on Instagram and Dazed Digital) than ever before, but is the one who is mostly priced out of the designer market (and I'm not saying it's a good thing). So, anything branded will do.

Resort and Pre-Collection sit on the shelves longer than SS and FW due to delivery dates, so they end up doing a great deal of profit for many houses as they take much longer to go on sale as well.

Yes and it's also the period when brands like Vetements will be showing their mainline collection for this exact reason.

Pretty sure Grailed hasn't forced Rick Owens to sell tote bags. And I'm pretty sure I remember this exact argument about designer t-shirts etc. in the 90s.

It's definitely a rise in hype that's doing it, and general free-market economics applies accordingly. I'll admit that I'm guilty of wanting one, in part because of the hype around it (they look awesome), but also because I haven't been able to find a hefty canvas tote in that exact colour and shape to replace it.
