i was having a conversation with an old friend of mine, who works in fashion now. and he claims it is impossible to be truly creative in fashion and that there can only be textile innovations and such, that the 'model' is set and is/will be, being/will be repeated.

i find it hard for me to accept that notion. thoughts?

it all depends on how you define it, but creativity, technical innovation and pushing the boundaries are all different things.







I think your friend's point is probably that you can only go so far with a certain garment, pants will always be pants etc. so the innovation is more in materials and methods than doing something completely new.
