The day darkens earlier and earlier ; october's almost here. And every year at this season I have to reread some short stories from Bradbury's October country. A childish taste, I know.

I can see a hat, I can see a cat,
I can see a man with a baseball bat.

Mail-Moth, that jacket is wonderful. October and early sunset only mean that we're getting closer to winter . Every autumn when the leaves start changing and the temperature oscillates between warm and cool/cold with the wind I remember my first year in the US. I was both elated and melancholic at the same time. It's a time I remember with nostalgia.

Bradbury is exactly the kind of author that makes children love literature when they become adults. His work is philosophy thinly veiled by science fiction. He is as important as any other author.

That's what happened in my case. It all began with Martian chronicles, when I was ten.
But in France this isn't something that you can say without feeling somewhat ashamed, at least among people considering themselves as well-read.

posted this a long while ago but maybe deserves a repost here:

Based on a short story by Ray Bradbury. It's a sad story. :(

Actually it's rather the same in America. Intellectuals think that a person's interest say in James Joyce magically appears out of nowhere.

When you grow up in a very cultured background, being born with literature as a nurse, you may have this kind of impression.
But when you don't, you often owe something to people like Bradbury.
