nictan yeah they are an old pair of c diem boots....this pretty much the standard outfit 10/12 months in a year, unfortunately...weather here doesn't permit the best of f/w it is inglorious.

I can appreciate wanting to beat up the Ricks.
I don't dislike them...I've actually had a few pairs in the past. The problem is that they seem to work the best when worn in the context of the rest of the outfit.
So it's not that I dislike the trainers....they simply don't go with the rest of your outfit visually, in my opinion.
Some on here would argue that they don't go with any outfit but I think that when worn in context with shapes and clothes that work with them instead of against them, they're OK.

Otherwise, it's like a putting a big, bright, expensive silk hat on a pig.

yeah, i understand where you are coming from.

it's just that i like to wear trainers or sneakers, as opposed to boots or more formal looking shoes, especially that i am a young student, i feel they fit better in my setting. these are actually my second pair of ricks, my other one's are completely unwearable now, since i wore them in a thunderstorm and the inside is completely torn apart. my only other shoes that i wear are a couple ann sneakers, but they cannot take the daily abuse that my ro's can take, since the rubber is so thin on the bottom that the wear will reach the leather in days and ive been too lazy too add a sole onto them
