I love the apron, but I've had issued wearing some similar overalls, I've been asked for sugar in La Grande Epicerie sveral times when I was living in Paris. Just do go shopping groceries while wearing it.

Unfavourable reactions are fine by me, but given what has been said about the Black Eyed Peas, what you're effectively saying is that I am a mindless sheep and/or I choose clothing only on a superficial level.

EDIT: Given your professional life I'm sure you choose your words carefully, so you know what implications they carry.

I agree with merz on this one - both pieces are dramatic and therefore clash by attracting attention to themselves. That BBS piece is really sick on its own and seem to demand the rest of your outfit to be simple. At least that's how I'd wear it. My coat doesn't have leather sleeves, but it's dramatic enough that i usually just wear a plain top, and slim black jeans/pants over laceup boots. "One crazy piece per outfit" rule has been working well for me. Again, I am not preaching, just reflecting.

Black Eyed Peas did wear them and that's what makes it funny, I think merz was insulting them more than he was criticisizing you, as if to say they should be left for fashion victims to wear terribly than be attempted to be worn sensibly by someone who's got a clue. I personally like them and think they'd work great with anything from gareth pugh.

Those raf boots are good to go paired with tailored stuff, like a 3/4 classic raf coat, I would try cropped looser pants instead.
