I disagree. I wear boots probably 4-5 times a week on campus and people don't find it "uncool," or if they do they don't let on. Also, the sneakers that most university students wear are the New Balance kind, so I think sneakers on a whole lose a lot of "cool". The "more appropriate" comment doesn't really hold water because the student's is a very free lifestyle, so basically any kind of clothing goes.

Oh sorry I forgot to mention that I live in Australia. Not only Australia, but in Perth of Australia (population of 1.5 million). The fashion here is pre-distressed jeans, fluro tight v-neck tops with slogans on front and back + some fake leather squared shoes. Nobody at my university wears leather boots. And if they do, its the gothic satan worshiping kind.

If you're trying to be cool by university student standards how cool are you really going to be?
