edit: RE: Lowrey fit, it's amazing how well CDG does the drop crotch. There are millions of dropped crotches in the world...but still very few designers do it right in my opinion.Last edited by beardown; 04-01-2011, 12:28 AM.Originally posted by mizzarSorry for being kind of a dick to you.

for the man I know you to be I would expect a more sound argument than this man..................
how can one say that beauty and ugliness are subjective...............(oh man, now I must recalibrate my lazy mind to defend Plato's idea of the Forms)
Do you realize you undermined your argument in the next sentence by saying "there is nothing one can say t refute that."
if your statement cannot be refuted, how then can beauty and ugliness be subjective, but your statement be irrefutable?
The validity of your statement would have to rest in a concept of absolutes which negates subjectivity.................
Also, I will take this to another level, the application of beauty and ugliness may vary, but we know what they are by definition, and if there can be an absolute definition, which is necessary to have any kin of discussion, therefore whatever is defined objectively to begin the discussion, cannot be argued to be subjective
we might have different perspective about a thing (you finding it beautiful and I finding it ugly) but that says nothing about state of the thing itself. It say more about the state of our perspective.............
Sorry, I had very little sleep and I haven't had any of the Coffee my Mom brought me as yet..............“You know,” he says, with a resilient smile, “it is a hard world for poets.”

It's a terrible argument, for sure. I wrote it before 7am. :)
"if your statement cannot be refuted, how then can beauty and ugliness be subjective, but your statement be irrefutable?"
My statement is based on the axiom of an individuals perception and it's relationship to time.
"The validity of your statement would have to rest in a concept of absolutes which negates subjectivity.................
Also, I will take this to another level, the application of beauty and ugliness may vary, but we know what they are by definition, and if there can be an absolute definition, which is necessary to have any kin of discussion, therefore whatever is defined objectively to begin the discussion, cannot be argued to be subjective"
So you believe there is a scientific model for determining what is beautiful? Beauty and Ugliness cannot be defined because they have no finite qualities. Only the individuals reaction can draw a subjective conclusion. As an easy example, think of a beautiful woman. Understand that the image in your mind would have been different 100 years ago. Time changes our relationship to what is beautiful.
"we might have different perspective about a thing (you finding it beautiful and I finding it ugly) but that says nothing about state of the thing itself. It say more about the state of our perspective............."
It is precisely the state of our perspective which determines the state of the thing itself. Don't give too much power to the thing.every man has inside himself a parasitic being who is acting not at all to his advantage
