Brown and black can work together, but sometimes they don't : wrong shades of brown to match black here - and they don't work together either.
Plus, black and brown alternate from top to bottom. Quite disturbing.

You just have to find a pant in a lighter colour and things should already get better.

True. Same with navy. It can work, just with the right shades and textures. Not an easy fit (but neither is matching the blacks )
