I think what you're describing is more a theory that is only sometimes adhered to in practice. It would be a mistake, I think, to ignore the context of the runway or street, like refusing a distinction between the white box gallery and, again, the street.
Indeed, but to add to this the "street" has a myriad of parameters, eg depending on where the street is.. and even to add the time of day. what Is acceptable in the pm may not he so in the am. i am somewhat ambivalent on the skirt itself, more the fact: either you like it, or not. Fuck the catwalk. We don't know, and should not care for the context. Just on what he is wearing on the day, or the moment the picture was made.
“You know,” he says, with a resilient smile, “it is a hard world for poets.”

This diatribe against men wearing skirts is getting to be such a bore. Not all skirts are made the same. Go out and see a bit of the world will you? One that isn't Anglo- something something.

think about this for a moment. I think there should be some things that are inherently male and female, like, say, men and women. Please inform me of these locales where skirts are worn en masse by men. I've been to about 26 countries and seen a total of 4 men wearing skirts all in the nation of style zeitgeist.
No garment is inherently male or female, unless they're meant to support the genitalia or biological traits of either genders, and even that doesn't hold true all the time. What men/women should/should not wear is a product of social construct, and in the present world, Westernisation. Also just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not there.
Actually kunk, I think most of us know where you stand on the skirt issue, there's no point in trying to change your mind. I just hope other people are more open to the idea.

I have nothing against men in skirts, I think context is paramount. My quips are with sz members who are more concerned about purchasing "the look" than actually cultivating one.
do the clothes wear the man, or does the man wear the clothes?
ps - miss your beautiful fits rosenrot...

I don't live in the past. But I do have a vacation home there.
rosenrot's fits are always incredible but i find anti-west sentiment kind of ludicrous on a forum where a leather jacket costs more than many non-westernized families make in a year.
