Let's face it, anything chunky like standard RO footwear/sneakers would make this outfit be ridiculous looking since the knees and up are so slim/basic/minimal. Silhouette wise, the Cons are probably the most optimal choice.

I generally like Chucks, but not with this fit. The overall look is OK, simple summer stuff, but the associations are too meta and 'in the know' in a sort of bad obvious way, especially with those laces. Like if you're going to wear all Rick and lace your black Chucks like that, why not just go Ramones? But non-fashion people wouldn't notice and it's nice to put a fit to the name.

I think this would be a lot better with a pair of detroits instead. The shirt flap doubling with the sweat pant drop doesn't work for me, too much dropped crotching.

I disagree. Paired with slim jeans the silhouette would be way less interesting, although I must say I am not a fan of that specific tee, I think a long drapey black one would look better to this outfit.

I thought about wearing my regular black tee but then at that point there's nothing that sets the outfit apart. That's why I chose this specific tee. Plus I don't get to wear it too often. It's a hard shirt to wear!

I feel like this would work better without the hoodie as that's what's causing the clash at least in my eyes. Though dunno what kinda piece would go over it if you need something to keep you warmer. Or of course as mentioned switching the tee, but with some plain tee it could get a bit bland like you said.
