bson, yes, it's a tad long. i'm getting the sleeves shortened. I could get the hem shortened too, but the only tailor i trust would charge $150 for a job like that (the dry cleaner charges $40, but i wouldn't feel comfortable having them doing it). i think it's acceptable. plenty of over sized coats hit below the knees.
BlacknWhite, thank you. the one h.lorenzo stocked was the faux-fur version. the coat is made in belgium; the (rabbit) fur collar, in spain. i didn't check the tags on the coats at h.lorenzo (they had two or three deeply discounted in their lower floor), so i don't know if they were made elsewhere or have different material compositions (other than the faux-fur).

Here's the requested pic without the collar. The air of the coat does change quite a bit. Underneath, I'm wearing a yohji cardi with a matching neckline in the collarless picture.

Thanks, DudleyGray. I folded in the sleeves when I shot those pics, so I'm getting them tailored to be that length. I guess, after all, I'll be keeping the coat. Your fit is super solid, leather cap and all.

I tried both all black and with the fake Adidas stripe and they are very different. If they made the stripe one without the stripe I would be all over it. The material of all black (or blood) ones makes them look like an unflattering skirt.

right, yeah, i guess it looks like it has too much sheen too. maybe i'll just have my tailor remove the stripes when i'm sick of them, or dye them black.
