I own expensive footwear, but my goal wasn't to wear very expensive clothing, it was to achieve a look. It just so happened that the look involved plain white plimsoll-esque shoes and I wore vans.

I'm going to have to agree with wc, the vans ruin the look. At least would have been loads better with chucks though not a huge fan of them either.

Re: What are you wearing today?

Are you guys objecting to the aesthetic of the shoe, or the brand of the shoe? Or perhaps both? I can understand and respect if you dislike the look/shape of the shoe, but if you're nay-saying the vans on the grounds that they are vans, I guess we'll have to agree to disagree. I'd be curious to find out if the same picture would have elicited a different response had I said they were generic plimsolls, or common projects.

regardless of brand i don't think that particular shoe is working with the whole thing...i don't have any ideas on what shoe would work better, but to my eyes those ain't it. I like Vans, don't wear em but i like seein em with the right outfit.

i just don't like sneakers/keds/whatever (unless i am playing sports or in the gym), ESPECIALLY white - so I'm the critics here.

mike lowery used to sometimes rock similar vans or the exact same ones last year with his all ann d ensembles in some of his waywt's and i didn't think they worked especially well either. i think it might be a bit of both aesthetic and brand association...it lumps u in with the sufu san fran asain dork/hipster loser white keds crowd by default ....but ultimately just the shape of the shoe (especially in that picture) leaves something to be desired....they look so narrow and little and feminine...i think it's one of those cases where the small little deatils make a great deal of difference u can say white converse or common projects r the exact same but i think white converse or the ann d sneakers would be a slight improvement or RO trainers or something with a bit more umph...those vans just dont balance out very well theyre too little.
