Why are those the only two lines for judging things? Masculine / Feminine? I think the gender character of that outfit is one of the least interesting elements of it since it's mainly a social argument for what is me a powerful (purely) aesthetic statement.

They are absolutely not Servo - it's just how this argument started.Fashion is a form of ugliness so intolerable that we have to alter it every six months - Oscar Wilde

Sorry Faust, I worded that wrong - it seems that to me it's unfortunate that these "arguments" begin that way. It seems like whenever an outfit with some question of gender arises it has to pass through a trial of "feminine / masculine" and the issues that arise afterwards become lost. Even in this situation where I would argue there are much stronger elements at play before they can become valid it has to pass a "masculine / feminine" test as it were.

yeah honestly i think anti-gay or anti-crossdressing comments would be wrong and out of place...but that's different than saying what you like or disklike. You don't have to like everything- I think it's fine for somoene to say- I don't like how that looks, looks to feminine for someone of your gender/size etc. I'd definitely want someone to tell me that if I asked their opinion, rather than just say "nice androgyny" when they actually were thinking "looks like crap"

Well Duncan, you sure created some discussion! I hope you will stick around. For what it's worth, I would not have the courage to wear such a thing, but I applaud you if you do and I think it looks good.
I had to post this because it made me crack up. Just found that I was photographed at this gallery. Find the fatass that only attends gallery opening for the food...

Hmm, not much time to post right now but some outfits are obviously masculine or feminine and some aren't. You can't escape connotations and that'd be a boring world if we didn't have them. I personally avoid "feminine" pieces but you can't say my look is always very masculine or virile.Selling CCP, Harnden, Raf, Rick etc.
