I dunno -- I didn't really interpret cjbreed's post as criticism or praise. I think he just wanted to understand others' point of view. It wasn't even targeted directly at you LOVE vs the people who were glowingly positive. Unless you too are certain in its perfection and can elucidate as to the why/how.

There might have been some nuance or aspect of perfection that others were able to pick up on that he couldn't. And maybe if you can't detect it yourself, then you will never get it or something... but....

I don't think it's in good taste to talk about members past when they don't post here anymore and were vital to this forum.

casem, love the long jacket and slim not skinny ankle pants/chunky derby combo.

I also love that one can wear an Ann D skirt from AW 2000 and in no way does it date itself.

This reminds me of a point that I was just debating with my non-fashion friend the other day. Good design (thoughtful, well-executed) + tasteful styling is enduring, but non-fashion people don't understand that and think it will all fall out of style.

edit: DudleyGray Nice, I've wanted the blue version for a while The front hem of that jacket is really such a pain to style.

This one is actually more of a medium-dark gray with black silk accents, but I hear you on the styling difficulty. It's not just the front hem either, but the bulk of the fabric. At the same time, that is what makes it a very versatile statement piece that gives a different feel depending on styling, so it's like a jacket to base the rest of an outfit on, piece by painstaking piece.

To elaborate on my opinion with respect to LOVE's fit, what I look for most of all -- if the components are to in any way transcend the sum of their parts -- is a beautiful silhouette. With Rick's menswear you get a good deal of very modular pieces... not that there's anything wrong with this, it's deliberate, and I understand why it's done. But as a matter of personal preference, I see a lot of outfits that read like stacked Lego bricks to me, and LOVE's fit, while simple, doesn't.

I suppose this is now technically a WYWWY (What You Were Wearing Yesterday*), but it's a Rick top/fishtail blazer, Ann Demeulemeester trousers that appear to be self-suspending (I sometimes hook the strap over my neck; here I just let them dangle) and Thomas Wylde boots.
