can anyone go further into this (perhaps in a new thread)?

i've heard of this and would love to learn how to do it. my favorite tees are thin, filmy ones. thinner than am ap tri-blend but not as done looking (if that makes sense) as a full blown burnout tee.

Caveat: if you do this in your own Washer...(after the number of times washing) run your machine without clothes and at least a cup of white vinegar (which will help rinse away any residue buildup from the salt and baking soda).

Just saw this, I can't see the original post at the moment, but just to let you know I never actually tried that, although have been considering it recently. :)

I tried doing two shirts with about a cup and a half of sodium carbonate (just sodium carbonate, not a detergent) and about three cups of salt in a gallon of water. I left them stew for an hour and it seemed to thin the shirts out, but only very slightly

I'll try it again with hotter water and more sodium carbonate and salt

sidenote: my girlfriend tells me what's going on in the salt and sodium carbonate bath is that the sodium carbonate is stealing ions from the fabric, though I have no idea whether it's true or not or even why it might be true.
