There are places here and there in the US that offer official classes... they can be $$$$ unfortunately. The suggestion of asking a local cobbler for instructions/mentoring would be a great option. I'd venture to guess that if you offer them some bucks they'd gladly teach.

There are surprisingly few online options and few resources that outright tell you how to construct footwear and what instruments/tools you need for each step. There is a really lovely video series on youtube of a guy making some heinous dress shoes but it's literally step by step in high quality:

The first steps of making a real handmade shoe (English sewn method). Part 1 of 6.

      this is the first clip

He makes it look so ridiculously easy. I gained a lot of insight into the process through his videos but far from undertaking the process myself. I'm envious of Asho and others on here who can actually craft footwear!

I think we [all] would love more pictures of the boots.

and please, can you take more pictures next time you make a pair of boots (or shoes)?

a while back i posted a fit pick with some of my shoes, for those who wanted more detail... just to add, these are the first samples of many from a collection by substrata. A line which will gain some momentum over the next few months.

                  I admire you.

Man, I think it's really great that you're capable of doing that yourself.
I would like to know, did you study shoemaking/designing?
And do you work in your own studio or something, I mean you need fuck-loads of tools!

I can personally attest to the quality of the above pair of shoes. they are seriously substantial.
let us raise a toast to ancient cotton, rotten voile, gloomy silk, slick carf, decayed goat, inflamed ram, sooty nelton, stifling silk, lazy sheep, bone-dry broad & skinny baffalo.

thanks B, in the next month or so I plan to have a few more styles made. would love your opinion on those when the time comes around. it's a shame you're not a 42 otherwise I could get you in on the action.
